Jose’ Ruiz, trainer
Jose’ Ruiz is an ex-collegiate baseball player from Avila University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science with an emphasis of Athletic Training. In 2008, he became a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise. In 2013 Jose’ earned his Masters Degree in Fitness/Wellness (Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Science and Nutrition) from the University of Central Missouri.
Jose’ enjoys all aspects of health, wellness and fitness and has taken numerous continuing education courses with topics in wellness coaching, boot camp instruction, mat Pilates and sports conditioning, to name a few. He has worked in the health, wellness and fitness industry since 2007. Jose’ has spent time as a Healthy Living Director with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, American Council on Exercise personal trainer prep course instructor, freelance/independent personal trainer, adjunct instructor with Avila University and instructed various small group personal training programs.
Jose’ is married with two daughters that are seven and four. He and his wife work together to incorporate a healthy lifestyle at home, as well, so their children grow up with healthy habits. Jose’ believes that proper nutrition and proper exercise will get results, but overall continuous/sustained healthy habits will maintain a healthy lifestyle for the individual and their family.
Jose’ is very excited to be a part of the Time 2 Change Fitness for Women team and wants to help everyone help themselves in reaching their healthy lifestyle goals and maintaining them. A mantra you will hear a lot from Jose’ is below. It’s what he considers to be both a fitness and life motto.
If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. Because if things are easy, there is no progress — so challenges must occur to elicit change in spirit, mind and body.♦ Jose’ Ruiz
